Motorola Moto Z2 Force review: One step forward, another step back

The best way to think of the new Moto Z2 Force is as a mashup of the two flagships that came before it. It's very nearly as sleek as the first Moto Z, and packs a refreshed version of the ShatterShield display that made the original Z Force so durable....

Top-tier performance ; ShatterShield works as advertised ; Mostly stock Android 7.1.1 ; Mods offer lots of flexibility ; Available for all major US carriers

Battery life could be better ; ShatterShield screen is prone to scratches ; Not actually water-resistant ; International versions have more RAM

Motorola made some questionable trade-offs here, but the Moto Z2 Force is still a solid, impressive smartphone. I'll give it props for being the most powerful modular phone out there (unless you count RED's forthcoming monstrosity) and so far, the...

Moto Z2 Force review

The Moto Z2 Force packs impressive specs in a thin frame, but it will drain your wallet dry.

Moto Z2 Force review: A modular phone with very few tricks

It's one of the last series of smartphones to ride on the modularity bandwagon. Is it even worth considering for its snap-on accessories?

Processor and RAM on par with other flagship devices. ; Near-stock Android 7.1.1. ; Shatteshield protects the display.

Battery life is inconsistent. ; Moto Mods present big compromises. ; Shattershield isn't impervious to scratches. ; No water resistance. ; Neither rear camera has OIS.

Motorola Moto Z2 Force Edition

The Z2 Force Edition is a powerful phone with a modular design that takes advantage of Motorola's useful Moto Mods accessories.

Useful modular design. Fast performance. Long battery life. Sharp display. Solid dual-sensor camera.

Easy to scratch plastic display cover. Weak speaker. No waterproofing or headphone jack. Some carrier bloatware.

In many ways the Moto Z2 Force Edition matches the Galaxy S8 feature for feature while adding support for truly useful add-on accessories. If you're sold on the Moto Mod idea, the Z2 Force Edition is the most powerful phone with which you can use them....

Moto Z2 Force, reviewed: Great phone, but wow it's not cheap

Motorola's flagship modular-accessory phone has lots of features, but phone season's just getting started.

The Moto Z2 Force is really thin, with a fast processor and great battery life. It can survive drops without shattering. The new dual rear cameras have some cool features we haven't seen before.

It's a really high price for a phone that doesn't do anything terribly new or exciting. The modular accessories are sometimes fun, but generally not worth the hassle. There's also no headphone jack, and it's more splash-resistant than water-resistant.

Motorola's step-up sequel to the Moto Z2 has great features and solid design, but the competition in this price range is about to get fierce.

Motorola Moto Z2 Force review: the screen won’t shatter, but your wallet will

The flagship Moto Z doesn't offer enough to justify its expensive price.

A screen that delivers on its shatterproof promise ; Blazing fast performance ; Moto’s tasteful software improvements to Android

Design looks dated compared to 2017 competition ; Shatterproof screen is easily scratched ; Not truly water resistant ; No headphone jack ; Smaller battery than predecessor

Motorola is still making some very good phones like the G5 Plus and Z2 Play, but it’s hard to classify this Moto Z2 Force as one of them. Between the smaller battery, Motorola’s cost cutting (omitting a Style Shell), and the high price, it's hard to...

Motorola Moto Z2 Force Smartphone Review

Bulletproof? The Motorola Moto Z2 Force high-end smartphone is the latest member of the Moto Z family and is, as expected, compatible with Moto Mods upgrades. In addition, it is equipped with ShatterShield: a display technology that is supposed to make...

very high performance ; shatterproof displaty ; upgradeable and enhanceable thanks to Moto Mods ; Android 8.0 update announced ; very fast Wi-Fi speeds ; bright WQHD OLED display ; decent camera ; remains comparatively cool ; decent quality speaker ;...

display scratches very easily ; case isn't waterproof ; audio jack only via adapter ; hybrid dual SIM slot ; poor camera performance under low-light conditions ; PWM flickering ; throttling under maximum load

No doubt, the Moto Z2 Force is an exceptional high-end smartphone with many pros and a few cons. First things first: gaming and application performance, Wi-Fi transfer speeds, its bright WQHD OLED display, and the shatterproof display are outstanding....

Motorola Moto Z2 Force Review: Modular compromise

Motorola's Moto Z2 Force couldn't have asked for a better - or tougher - test over the last week, as it became my go-to phone on back to back events. The tl:dr? It's an evolutionary follow-up to the first-gen Moto Z Force, for better and worse. Full...
