Reviewing budget cameras is tricky. Add in a brand name that is synonymous with another product category like light bulbs and appliances and taking the camera seriously is even more difficult. Such is the case with the GE X5.
The GE X5 offers a lot for its low price, including a 15x wide-angle zoom lens and semimanual and manual controls.
The X5's shooting performance is really slow, and it's not good indoors without a flash and in low-light conditions.
The GE X5 megazoom is a very good value, as long as you understand its photo and performance limitations.

This affordable bridge camera promises a lot but does it deliver?
Don’t be lured in by the long list of advanced features this camera has. Image quality is more important and, in this respect, the X5 doesn't deliver.

GE enters the superzoom market with a 15x reach and a 14Mp resolution, all packed up in a bridge-style camera for under £130.
15x optical zoom; 14.1Mp resolution; Good grip; Excellent build quality; Wide angle lens
Colour fringing

piece of junk
can be a nice paper weight.
piece of trash

Piece of junk, will only focus occasionally. Sent back for repair, was told camera was OK. It supposedly has auto focus but my pictures come out blurry most of the time. Wouldn't wish one on an enemy.
Takes nice pictures when it feels like working.
Won't focus most of the time.

I bought the camera for my girlfriend and she loves it, as a matter of fact she signed up for a photography class just to show off/learn more abut her new camera. Money well spent in my opinion.
14 MP - on a 1080p screen you cn zoom in on a picture far enough to see if anyone was wearing coverup to cover and pimples - exceptionally clear. Tons of features
I knew before I bought it what it would look like, but I can't help to wonder why 4 AA batterys and why did the batterys it came with die in the first day of use ; Again, known before purchase, it only has a 27mm lens

It isn't a con, but there is a nearly imperceptible whir when moving the camera quickly. This is completely negated by the image stabilization quality. This is also probably the culprit. It is barely audible, and I am only noting it for review clarity,...
This camera replaced a 8 MP digital camera, non-SLR, and wow. The difference is amazing. It has a nice, dense feel in the hands without being heavy, the buttons aren't cramped together, the auto-focus is a nice feature, and the camera is overall very...
Camera showed up with 2 fingerprints on the lens, not too happy about that. The heft to the camera could cause some people to be overly nervous in it's use, especially if used to the negligible weight of a digital camera. It weighs about 3x as much as...

At the house in one day! Newegg & free shipping can't be beat
Big package small price
NA ............no complaints
Consumer review (newegg.com)
For the typically low price, this is an exceptional deal. I've got a number of other digital cameras and this camera closely approaches their capability at at a much less painful price.
Lots of features. Uses AA batteries
Full resolution not obvious on camera screen (but there in the saved computer file)
