Toshiba Qosmio X70 review

A gaming laptop that makes a loud first impression

Great gaming power ; Good processor ; Fast SSD ; Bright screen ; Blu-ray

Awful battery life ; Garish design ; Mixed build quality ; Mediocre speakers ; High price

Scores in depth Toshiba's Qosmio gaming laptops have never been shy about showing off their high-end heritage, and that's certainly true of the new X70: it's got a ring of red metal around its base.

Toshiba Qosmio X70

Toshiba's multimedia slab gets the Haswell treatment, along with a new Nvidia GPU thrown into the mix.

Huge screen. Solid chassis. Excellent performance.

Horrific battery life. Rather heavy.

Combining the latest performance parts in one of the most robust chassis around, the newest Qosmio is a fine gaming laptop for those who don't mind how big it is.

Not working, recovery did not work and that even after several hours of running the recovery CDs

Disappointing performance

s, with minimal improvement. I have disabled as much of the startup programs as I can in order to speed up a cold boot - it takes at least 5 minutes before the unit is usable. I find it is quicker to just close the lid and put it in sleep mode, it then...
