Toshiba HD-EP35 review

This is the flagship model in Toshiba's second generation of HD DVD players, which makes it the de facto leader for the blue laser format. The HD-EP35 is currently the best specified player of its kind and this seems set to stay that way for now

High sec HDMI outut ; Excellent 1080 ; 24 ictures ; Affordable rice

Slow startu and disc loading ; No disc resume function ; Lightweight build

Toshiba HD-EP35 HD DVD Player

Toshiba's HD-EP35 has a few more tricks up its sleeve than the EP30, but it's still a bargain.

A good player, which offers great performance for a pretty good price, although the HD-EP35 isn't leaps and bounds better than the HD-EP30

Picture quality ; Sound quality ; Easy to use ; Great interactivity

Sound output is a little quiet ; Could be improved by Xvid and DivX support

Overall we like the EP35 -- the picture and sound are both solid, and it's easy to use. We'd like to see some more advanced features appear on these players, such as support for DivX and Xvid, but that's a gripe for another day

Toshiba's newest deck is a budget star – a ridiculously good HD-DVD player offered at a ridiculously low price

The highly capable ‘EP35 is a budget belter – and a great alternative to buying a PS3 for a bargain hi-def fix
